Eli Goldratt (1948-2011)

Eli Goldratt was the manufacturing guru who created the Theory of Constraints (TOC), the Optimized Production Technology, the Thinking ProcessesDrum-Buffer-RopeCritical Chain Project Management (CCPM) and other TOC derived tools.

His book, The Goal, was a real milestone and my first exposure to Lean thinking.  It’s a classic that you should read or possible read again.  I recall starting a LinkedIn discussion about what one should read to learn about Lean.  The Goal was the common thread to nearly everyone’s answer.

Eli passed away over the weekend but his impact will be lasting.  You can see more of Eli’s work at Jamie Flinchbaugh’s Blog.
